Think
you're fighting racism? Try pulling your head out of your ass first
Alright, I REALLY hate to tackle the whole race issue, but I
feel that someone has to do it. Note that I (in my opinion) am not a
racist, and if you're some sort of neo-Nazi conservative douche bag who
thinks I'm going to rally the troops, do the world a favor by putting
your head under salt water and take a deep breath.
With that said, self-rigtheous people really
piss me off. It's the people that bitch when someone makes a joke about
their particular demographic (and only their demographic), and claim
that they want "equality" for all, when they in fact only care about
their ethnicity/gender/sexual orientation, etc.
Note: I left out religion. Religion, believe or not, is a choice.
You're not Catholic just because your parents were Catholic. Think for
yourself before you blindly tell people about what your beliefs
are.
If you haven't seen my material, I tend to get edgy. It's not
intentional, I just say what I think, and what I think others
may think, is funny. I'm not going to get up on stage and
drop F-bombs and tell sex jokes just for "shock" appeal. It's 2009,
shock appeal died when "South Park" was allowed on television (and
don't get me wrong, I love South Park), so it would be stupid for any
comedian to try to make a career out of pushing the envelope.
With that said, I tell various ethnic jokes. In fact, I hit about every
race in my stand-up because I think that it's only fair. By touching
all races (and other groups of people), I do not single anybody out,
which in turn does not make me prejudice. I tell, and have told, black
jokes, Jew jokes, gay jokes, sexist jokes, Chaldean jokes, Mexican
jokes, and Asian jokes. Not to mention, I often joke about death,
abortion, pedophilia, handicapped people, tragedy, and
suicide, which I believe are all worse subjects to joke about
than race.
As you can imagine, my act will piss people off. But often for the
wrong reasons. After one of my more recent shows, some girl complained
that my Barack Obama joke (where I feel bad for him because if he
becomes one of the greatest presidents of all time, he's going to be
way too dark to put on Mount Rushmore) was racist, and she was very
upset. Once again, usually
this would not piss me off so much. However, she never once complained
about the fact that I ripped on the hearing impaired, Mexicans, gays,
vegans (although veganism is a choice, so vegans don't really count
because they're not real people) and even threw in some stuff on
abortion AND terrorism.
Let me get this straight, it's okay for me to make fun of every other
ethnicity, religion, lifestyle, handicap, and sexual orientation, as
long as I am not making fun of YOUR ethnicity, religion, lifestyle,
handicap, and sexual orientation. Seems fair to me. Actually, it almost
sounds like, I don't know, DISCRIMINATION!
In my opinion, whenever someone gets all defensive about their
demographic of people, without caring for other demographics, they are
elitists who care about nobody else but themselves. However I must
admit, I am somewhat like this. I don't care about any group of people,
even white people. I remember some racist hag told me to make sure to
take care of and raise a good family, because "the Mexicans
will outnumber 'us'" soon, and I need to preserve the race (I'm not
making this up). Like I care about white people anymore than I care
about other ethnicities. I only care about what's best for Kirk Wilcox.
Furthermore, don't lump me in with white people or any other group of
people. Because no group of people deserves respect or admiration. All
of that should be earned
on an individual
basis (I apologize for the constant caps locking and underlining. I
just want to make sure that ignorant people understand the message,
because ignorant people can't read).
The NAACP and Feminists are also starting to piss me off. Don't get me
wrong, both groups, amongst others, made great strides during the Civil
Rights movement to promote and secure equality (Which by the way,
equality does not entirely exist in America, for all of you ignorant
white people that bitch about stupid things like Affirmative Action).
What bothers me is that these groups are all for spreading
"equality", but where are these people when gays are fighting
for equal marriage laws? I say if you want equality, you should want it
for everybody,
and not just for your group of people. Hypocrites.
Also, I'm tired of hearing about being "proud" of your
heritage/background/culture. Having pride in what your are, as opposed
to who are are, is nationalism. Nationalism leads to war more than
anything else. Not to mention, people who need to find pride in what
they are probably worthless to begin with, or else they would not be
looking for stupid things to be proud of.
